On a difficult night for the Conservatives, James finished second to Rupa Huq, the incumbent Labour MP. Based on the new boundaries, James’ campaign was able to reduce Labour’s majority by 138 votes.
James’ campaign focussed on rising crime, protecting green spaces, and Labour’s parent tax.
Commenting on the result, James said:
“I am happy that the Conservatives have maintained a strong footing in Ealing Central and Acton.
We faced a strong campaign from the Lib Dems that we were able to keep at bay by focussing on the issues that mattered to our core vote.
Thank you to all the activists for their immense efforts throughout the campaign”.
